What actually happens in a session
Booking a studio for the first time is mostly a question of what you are supposed to bring, and what we handle. Here is the honest version.
Before the day
Come with the song finished in your head, or at least the shape of it. Studio time is for capturing decisions, not making all of them. If you have a reference track, send it ahead.
Bring your own headphones if you have a pair you trust. You will hear yourself for hours and familiar headphones make that easier.
When you arrive
One of our producers is already in the room and the desk is set up. We will spend a few minutes listening to what you have and agreeing what the session is for: a rough idea to capture, a vocal to cut properly, or a mix to finish.
Tracking
Most vocal sessions run two to four hours. That is not a rule about talent, it is a rule about voices. After four hours you are recording a tired singer, and you can hear it.
We record every usable take and keep them. Nothing is thrown away during the session.
After
Rough mixes go up in your portal so you can live with them for a few days. Masters and stems follow once the balance is settled.
If something is wrong, say so plainly. A revision is normal and expected, and it is cheaper for everyone than a record nobody is happy with.
